Telluride Brewing Co Partners with Patagonia Provisions to

Introduce a Lager Brewed with Organic Kernza®

Join Telluride Brewing Co and Patagonia Provisions to celebrate a new, delicious beer

that helps restore our home planet

TELLURIDE, CO (August 12, 2024) – Telluride Brewing Co is thrilled to announce its partnership with Patagonia Provisions, the food and beverage division of the renowned outdoor apparel company Patagonia, to introduce a game-changing beer: Kernza® Lager. This innovative collaboration brings together the craft beer expertise of Telluride Brewing Co with Patagonia Provisions’ commitment to responsibly sourced ingredients, resulting in a brew that not only tastes incredible but also helps restore the planet.

What better way to introduce this incredible new brew than with the rest of the Telluride community? Join Telluride Brewing on Thursday, August 16th, from 4:30 - 6:30 pm at their Lawson Hill Taproom for the official launch party of Kernza Lager. Sip on this delicious, crisp lager, enjoy good company, and be part of something bigger—a movement towards more regenerative brewing practices.

The Patagonia Provisions x Telluride Brewing Co Kernza Lager is crafted using a unique blend of ingredients, including Organic Pils, Vienna, and Dextrin malt from Proximity, organic Bravo and Altus hops from Hopsteiner, and certified organic Kernza from MAD Agriculture. The result is a bright, refreshing lager that’s wildly drinkable  and packed with a subtle, nutty flavor from the Kernza.

Kernza, a deeply-rooted regenerative perennial grain, has the potential to transform the brewing industry. It stabilizes soil, requires minimal tilling, increases soil organic matter, and improves soil structure and water-holding capacity.  Ongoing research also shows that Kernza draws down and stores more carbon in the soil than annual grains.

“We’re beyond stoked to work with Patagonia to advance sustainability in the craft beer industry,” says Chris Fish, Chief Brewing Officer and Co-Founder of Telluride Brewing Co. “With Kernza Lager, we wanted to create something unique, and brewing a Vienna-style lager with Kernza was the perfect fit.”

Telluride Brewing Co is proud to join Patagonia Provisions in its brewery partnership program with other  independent craft breweries across the U.S., each brewing regional-specific lager-style beers with all organic ingredients to shift the industry towards a more resilient, responsible path..

This partnership exemplifies the shared commitment of Telluride Brewing Co and Patagonia Provisions to scaling regenerative and organic practices in brewing, all in an effort to help fight the climate crisis. Telluride Brewing Co’s Kernza Lager is now available at both their Lawson Hill taproom and Mountain Village Brewpub.

“Since we opened our doors in 2011, a love and respect for the outdoors has been at the heart of everything we do,” adds Fish. “Patagonia has always set the standard for environmental stewardship, and we strive to do the same. This partnership has inspired us to think outside the box and explore new ways to approach sustainability in brewing.”

Mark your calendars and don’t miss the Kernza Lager Launch Party on August 16th and raise a glass to great beer and love for our planet!

Really interesting collaboration. It’s great to see breweries and brands focusing on sustainability while still creating something unique and enjoyable for the community. The idea of combining innovation with shared experiences reminds me of how passionate online communities form around hobbies and entertainment too, whether it’s craft brewing culture or gaming spaces like null brawls where people connect through common interests.
